Pedestrians Are Pampered In Gatlinburg - Gatlinburg becomes the first city I met once down the Great Smoky Mountains, one of the several cities northwest side of tourism in the Great Smoky Mountains. The town is located at the elevation of about 400 m above sea level is actually only has a population of about 3,400 inhabitants. But the town is popular as a souvenir of the city almost every day, populated mostly by tourists, more so in summer holiday like this. Somehow this small town could be an option in such a tourist destination.
There are interesting when they arrived in the small town of Gatlinburg, the late afternoon of Sunday, July 2, 2000, is still very solid and many tourists. The main road bisecting the city tour is pretty controlled with traffic signs that warn about the maximum speed limit of 25 mph (40 km/h). The rider while in the mountain route last equally drove fast, arrived in this city immediately reduce speed. Without the need to have instructions from the police, let alone his image.

When asked why they can be so obedient to the rules are there? I don't know the exact answer. I can only be guessing, probably because the tradition is more easily regulated (read: discipline) has indeed become a part of the life of their community. Or, another possibility because they are afraid to discipline enforcement of strict rules. That is, once they break the rules then the light will not sanction imposed upon them by consequent. If this is true, then this is the fear that educational.
I try to reflect them: what about us? Who's afraid of ... ...? It seems we are more daring. Dare not because it is not fear, but rather because we have "custom" likes to buy & sell fear. So it doesn't seem to mention the difference between submissive and obedient, no discipline and no discipline. Ah, it could be a mirror that I use is incorrect.
Every few dozen meters on the main street of Gatlinburg is Ford's way (zebra cross), which is above the asphalt is written with a large white inscription that reads "Walkers first". Then if there are pedestrians who look down from the sidewalk about to cross over, there is no other reason for each rider of a vehicle coming from both directions, in addition, to stopping giving the opportunity to the pedestrians to cross.

Being a pedestrian in Gatlinburg is indeed truly pampered with a sense of security. To be a pedestrian in this city seems to have not needed the skills to cross the road. Contradictory (without intending to compare) and the story of my coauthors who lives in Jakarta, where the science of crossing the street became mandatory studied by migrants to live in Jakarta. Rather than want to get off the sidewalk, still above the sidewalk alone is feeling insecure. Scramble paths with the bikers who are lost to memory and thinking that the sidewalk is a highway.
